India’s Neeraj Chopra Wins Gold in Diamond League, Sets New National Record

India’s star javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra added another feather to his cap by winning the gold medal at the Stockholm leg of the Diamond League, setting a new national record in the process. Chopra’s remarkable throw of 90.76 meters not only secured him the top spot but also marked the longest throw in the world this season.

The Olympic champion, who has been in scintillating form this year, surpassed his previous national record of 89.94 meters set earlier this season. Chopra’s throw came in his second attempt, and he led the competition from start to finish, outclassing a strong field that included the world’s best javelin throwers.

Germany’s Johannes Vetter, who holds the second-best throw of all time, finished second with a best effort of 89.23 meters, while Czech Republic’s Jakub Vadlejch took the bronze with a throw of 88.12 meters.

Speaking after his victory, an elated Neeraj Chopra said, “It feels incredible to win here in Stockholm and set a new national record.
